Box Office Blow-out! Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone kicks some major butt!

Harry Potter blew everyone away after it was released in November of 2001. The movie swept away current records that had been placed.
In the United States, Harry Potter took in 93.5 million dollars in its FIRST weekend.
In the UK, sales from tickets topped £62 million.
The movie beat out other record holders such as:
Episode I - The Phantom Menace
The Lost World - Jurassic Park
 
As it continued in theatres, Harry Potter brought in more than 200 million dollars in the US.
On its first day out in Australia, Harry Potter brought in 2 million dollars, the most ever for that continent!
 
With the Chamber of Secrets on the way, Harry Potter is sure to blow the rest away!
